The Heart of Julian is more than a mountain getaway to me—it’s a story of intuition, timing, and a home that felt like it chose me long before I ever imagined owning it.

For years, my daughter and I visited Julian to slow down, breathe, and reconnect. I had always dreamed of owning a home here, but I never imagined it would happen the way it did.

While exploring different possibilities for a new home, nothing felt right. Then I remembered a Julian house I had seen eight months earlier. I couldn’t find it online—no surprise, its curb appeal was unforgettable—but something kept pulling me back to the mountains. After touring several homes that didn’t resonate, we stepped into a small real estate office in the historic district and met Rose, a kind elderly broker. She handed me a packet of listings.

On the very last page, there it was—the house I never forgot.

When I asked if it was still available, Rose smiled and said:

“You know, dear… that home just came back on the market today.”

We were able to schedule a viewing that day. The moment I stepped inside, I felt embraced. I put my hand to my chest and whispered to myself, “She’s beautiful.” I knew instantly it was meant for me, and I immediately put in the offer. Later, while standing in downtown Julian, the name came to me: The Heart of Julian—because it captured mine at first sight.

We began renovations, moving through every room and every quiet corner of the house. A few weeks later, out of nowhere, I discovered a long tube leaning against the wall inside a closet—something that hadn’t been there before. Inside were the original architectural blueprints of the home. Chills coursed through me, as if the house itself was whispering, “Finish me. I chose you.”

I refreshed the home with warmth and intention, adding inviting outdoor spaces, cozy seating areas, and a peaceful sunset balcony. Guests now describe the home as welcoming, healing, and unforgettable.
